The winners of the 2011 Forecourt Trader of the Year Awards were announced at a glittering hollywood themed awards ceremony at The Hilton Park Lane, London on Thursday 22nd September. Euro Garages won the evening's top prize when its Beehive Service Station site in Blackburn, Lancashire, was named the ‘Forecourt Trader of the Year 2011', following a tough judging process.
Merril Boulton, chairman of the judges and editor of Forecourt Trader magazine, said: "The site is one of Eurogarage's flagship forecourts and epitomises the business design strategy to maximise the potential in its forecourts so they ultimately become an attractive retail space rather than a traditional pump and kiosk operation. "The Beehive site well and truly raises the bar in forecourt development. Many congratulations from the Forecourt Trader team."
Sebastion Nonis of Forfar Road Service Station in Dundee, Tayside was named Best Forecourt Retailer in Scotland, while Connor McKibben of Brennans Spar in Seaforde, County Down scooped the top prize in the Northern Ireland category.
In the Midlands, the Fraser Group's Budgens of Yarnton forecourt in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, represented by Nick Fraser, won overall; and Euro Garages' Mohsin & Zuber Issa fought off stiff competition to win Best Forecourt Retailer in Northern England for their Beehive Service Station in Blackburn, Lancashire.
The Issa brothers also came out on top in the West Country & Wales category with Deeside Service Station in Deeside, Flintshire; and Ken Popat of Barking Service Station in Barking, Essex won overall in the London & South East category. >> See all the winners
